SEPTEMBER 20 GENERAL ASSEMBLY #17 MINUTES
Attendees*:
Meann
Aids
Oneal
Joran
Hec
Ricky
Emil
Earl
Azrael
Rain
Rej
* Because I was late and because I don't feel like anything today, I've
decided to give 100 points to everyone who attended the assembly, regardless
of what time they arrived or whether they signed up or not. But I will be
subtracting the customary 10 points from myself for being late. If I forgot
anyone in the list of attendees, do post and I will amend the list. Thanks.
What was discussed:
1) Mos Eisley Night Evaluation
- the Sunday sked is a problem for some, because there is work the next
day. this might have affected attendance, and many people had to go home
early
- quote from Gary: "I hate the poster". :D
- something should be happening while the bands are performing sound checks
so as not to lose the audience's attention
- venue: parking problems
- more people in costumes!
- more of the "Star Wars element"!
- tighter security at the entrance. Aids suggested assigning someone
dressed as a Royal Guard to stand at the entrance. (intimidating and
effective)
- distribute flyers containing announcements, instead of announcing them
during the event.
2) Next Mos Eisley Night is scheduled for November 29, 2003, still at
Millenia Cafe. Oh, yeah, it's a Saturday this time.
3) Suggestions for New Worlds 2
- create a "costume committee", a group that will compile costuming
resources, and will help design and create costumes for SWP members
- Seminar/Workshop suggestions:
* About Collecting
* About Costuming
* "Star Wars 101"
* Lightsaber Fighting Techniques
- Contest suggestions:
* Create your own SW alien
* Grand Moff Trivia Game (more high-tech, and hosted by GM Patrick
himself, in costume. ;) )
* Arcade games/console games
- Star Wars Storytelling (for kids?)
- Possible premiere of the SWP fanfilm, "Checkmate", and the Stormballs
Mockumentary
- Performance by the Stormballs (do we even need to list this down?)
- Demonstration by the Lightsaber Suicide Squad
What else happened:
- Aids regaled us with the possible story of Episode 3, and *shudder* it
all makes sense (Note to Aids: send to me na and upload!!! :D )

Event: Mos Eisley Night
August 31, 2003 --- Millenia Cafe
In homage to the Mos Eisley Cantina featured in Star Wars: Episode 4 - A New Hope,
Star Wars Philippines put up Mos Eisley Night. People came in costumes, not necessarily from the Star Wars saga. They had fun watching the most hilarious Star Wars fanfilms, and listening to emergent bands, The Itchyworms,
The Purplechickens, Narda, The Late Isabel, Fish Trio, and Doh'Ahou.
Here are links to coverage of the event:
- WeAreAnime - webmaster RG co-hosted the event
- rainwalker | sunstroller
- Oneal's Imagestation album - photos and video clips
- pics from my own album

SWP Tambay Day! (Assembly #14)
Agenda: none. :)
Venue: SWP HQ, 2pm to around 12:30am of the next day!
Attendees: Meann, Oneal, Aids, Patrick, Rachel, Joran, Rain, JP, Krys, Ian, Paolo J.
'Twas fun fun fun. There was really no agenda for tambay day. The object was just to hang out. One significant event of the day: Mulletboy was born! The greatest hero who will ever try to save the galaxy... More to come on Mulletboy....
===
No one contested it, so Marga gets credits for translating the Aurebesh on the Vader Matrix pic. The answers....
starwarskickass
darthvaderhasyou
(he)cankickneosbutt
(there)isnoescapefromthedarkside
Cool. Am awarding Marga 50 credits. :)
|
Hrmmm... I've thought of a way to make this Holocron more functional.... Will put up separate pages to access a listing of activities for a certain period. Then, when applicable, those listings will also contain links to either minutes of meetings on this blog, or links to contest pages, etc. Will make index available on left hand side control panel. But I'd better work on this soon or all the events will pile up, and I'll regret not starting the indexing earlier. After I finish that, maybe I should try and find out if Madame Jocasta Nu needs an assistant.... Thank the Force for National Holidays. Since there's no work this Friday, I can get to that, and maybe even finish it in a day! If only my very own office Darth Vader did not transfigure into Emperor Palpatine, things would have been so cool....
|
While surfing TheForce.Net, I came across a cool Matrix-Vader pic made by a guy named Jeremy Freed. Just for kicks, I decided to put it up as this week's group pic. And again, just for fun, since the scrolling text is supposed to be written in Aurebesh, I will give points to the person who can translate the text and present proof of the translation. LOL. I knew something fishy was going on in the Matrix. Apparently, it's the work of the Sith. ;)

After posting about this blog at the mailing list, Bace suggested this can be called the SWP Holocron. Sounds good. Running to the Unofficial Encyclopedia to look up more info on Holocrons....
"known originally as a holographic chronicle, this was a recording device used by the ancient Jedi Knights to hold the multitude of teachings and lore needed to maintain the Jedi Knights. Each of these devices provides a visual and vocal way to view the enclosed information. The holocron was essentially a dense crystal, with intricate lattices and vertices which were capable of storing huge amounts of information. Most were small enough to fit in the palm of a human being. Each holocron has a gatekeeper assigned to dispense the information. The gatekeeper contains the cognitive network functions of a Jedi Master, and acts as a search, recovery, and storage allocation program. The devices are shaped like small, translucent cubes, and can be activated by a person controlling The Force. The Holocron can sense the user's ability with the Force, and can block out areas of knowledge that are beyond the user's ability. Despite the name, these holocrons were not limited to the Jedi Knights. Several holocrons containing Sith lore have been discovered as well. For some unknown reason, Sith Holocrons were pyramidal in shape, while Jedi Holocrons were cubic. The technology for constructing a Holocron and storing the personalities and knowledge within one was lost many thousands of years before the Battle of Yavin."
Cool! Hrmmm. Maybe a change in name is in order.... will get to it later on. :)
Oh, and someone wants a comment feature on here! LOL.

This is my little personal project for Star Wars Philippines. This blog will document assemblies, events, and other happenings in the group. I've long started this project using the Database feature at Yahoogroups, but it's not very smart, that feature. It doesn't have a function that allows you to sort the entries by dates. It just sorts entries alphabetically. Needless to say, a diary which isn't sorted by date is quite... ahhh... stupid? So I decided to use good ole Blogger. At least I can put in longer entries here. There's room to put in Minutes of Meetings and comments.
Oh, the comments feature. That's what I forgot. The comments feature. Hrmmm... Initially, I told myself that this is MY documentation, why should anyone butt in on it? But I'll think about putting one in....
On with the show, then!
Exporting all this from the SWP Database.
